Lew Frederick
Strategic Communications Consultant
Lew Frederick is a communications consultant focusing on Strategic Planning, Community Relations and Media Crisis Communications. He is a member of the Oregon State Board of Education, Geneforum and the Oregon Bus Project. Lew's academic background includes biology, theater, and political science; he has studied at Earlham College, MIT, Morehouse, and the Woods Hole Marine Biology Laboratories. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Portland State University.
As a child he was in the middle of the Civil Rights Movement; since then he has been deeply involved in issues surrounding education, technology, the environment and health care. Professionally, Lew was a television reporter at KGW-Channel 8 in Portland for 17 years, and the Director of Public Information for the Portland Public Schools for 13 years. He's also a seasoned teacher, actor and ranchhand. Lew is presently a candidate for appointment to the Oregon State House of Representatives from District 43 (North and Northeast Portland).
