Liz Baxter

Executive Director, The Archimedes Movement

Liz Baxter has directed The Archimedes Movement since its founding in 2005 by former Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber, MD. Prior to this position, she spent 12 years with Legacy Health System; and five years with the Office of Oregon Health Policy and Research. Her academic background is in social work, gerontology and public health. She currently serves on the board of Oregon Health Decisions; is a member of the leadership team for of Oregon's Consumer Voices for Coverage grant, funded by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation; and serves on the Oregon Health Reform Collaborative.

Ms. Baxter has been involved with progressive causes since she was a teenager working to end the Viet Nam war. Since then, she has worked on many issues that she is passionate about—from improved delivery of mental health services, to the arts and public education. Her objective is to instill in her three sons the belief that we have the power to make the world be the place that we want to live in.
