Rep. Jefferson Smith

District 47, Oregon House of Representatives
Founder, Bus Project

Jefferson Smith is a native Oregonian. He attended Portland public schools, and went on to earn a Bachelor's from the University of Oregon and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. After accepting a position at a corporate law firm in New York City, Jefferson soon decided to return to Oregon, where he founded the Bus Project--now a nationally recognized non-profit organization dedicated to engaging young people in forward-thinking, community-focused politics. In 2006 alone, the Bus Project registered more than 20,000 new voters, increasing Oregon's youth electorate. As the current Representative for District 47, his work in the Oregon Legislature is driven by his commitment to civic work and his love of Oregon.
