Sen. Suzanne Bonamici
District 17, Oregon Senate
Prior to serving in the Oregon Senate, Suzanne Bonamici was a Legislative Assistant and then a member of the Oregon House of Representatives. She worked her way through college in Eugene, first earning an Associate's degree at Lane Community College, then completing a Bachelor's of Science in Journalism at the University of Oregon. In 1983, she graduated with a J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law. Suzanne then worked as an attorney for the Federal Trade Commission in Washington D.C., where she was in the Credit Practices Division of the Bureau of Consumer Protection. Suzanne met her husband, attorney Michael Simon, in Washington and in 1986 they moved to Portland. Suzanne joined a law firm and worked there until her children were born. Presently, as a state Senator, she serves on the Judiciary committee, the Education and General Government Committee, and is Chair of the Consumer Protection and Public Affairs Committee.
